History

The Kansas City Equity Fund established itself in the affordable housing community during 2007. The initial investor base was broad and provided a good foundation upon which the 2008 Fund was built, for a total of $7.4 million in the first two funds.  KCEF 2009 will further the mission by investing in additional properties in the 15-counties of the Kansas City metro area.

The Kansas City Equity Fund made its first investment  in 2007 in Westside Apartments partnering with Westside Housing Organization in the rehabilitation of 75 units of affordable housing in the historic West Side neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri.

In 2008, two additional properties were added to the portfolio:  65 units at the Valentine Apartments, with McCormack Baron Salazar as the General Partner; and, 14 townhomes at Jamison Housing on the Boulevard with Jamison Temple CDC and the Fulson Housing Group.

Potential investments on the horizon for KCEF 2009 include a property in Kansas City, Kansas.  And investors are now being sought as KCEF works diligently to provide continued benefits to its investors, partners, and the neighborhoods we serve.
